Smartcontacts, the latest project of Google X
We already have smartphones, smartwatches, smartglasses… and now we have smartcontacts.
Google’s most misterious and secret department, Google X, has released a smart contact lens project, announced through a blog post on Google’s official blog.
Google’s last project could help millions affected by diabetes: smartcontact lenses can measure glucose levels in tears. The contact lenses contain a little wireless chip & sensor, embedded between 2 layers of soft contact lens material.
The project is still on a testing phase, “but we’ve completed multiple clinical research studies which are helping to refine our prototype. We hope this could someday lead to a new way for people with diabetes to manage their disease”, Google said on the post.
